2018 Ford F-150 Upgraded Engine Lineup Gets Power Numbers

While this year’s truck was voted best full-size pickup for the money, the 2018 Ford F-150 will raise the bar even further. Thanks to a new twin-turbo V6, the half-tonner net 12,200 lbs. max towing and 470 lb-ft of torque for 2017. That won’t change for 2018, but the rest of the engine lineup will.

Last week, Ford dropped the figures for the 2018 F-150, excluding the forthcoming turbodiesel. Every engine--save for the all-new 3.3-liter V6 base—will get a ten-speed automatic transmission as standard fair. The naturally-aspirated base engine will now offer 290 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque and an automatic six-speed gearbox, while upgrades to both the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 and 5.0-liter V8 have dialed up torque to 400 lb-ft in both mills, and a 10 hp bump to 395 hp in the V8. Fuel economy figures are still forthcoming.

To find out which of the F-150’s trims suits you best, we invite you to contact our Ford dealership in Wetaskiwin, AB to set up a test drive. We’d be happy to answer any questions you may have when you come by.
